An Adirondack Lodge – The Read Camp
3-Star Camp was built in 1906. It has been maintained and used by 5 generations of the Read family throughout its history.
The camp has many trails that are actively maintained. Go for a short hike on Poodle’s Walk or try to beat the Read family record running around the Lake trail.
The camp sits on Little Simon Pond. A not-so-little private lake. There is a boathouse with 8 births with canoes and guide boats. There is even a sunfish.
The scenery is stunning any time of year. View the gallery for a small sample of the incredible scenery.
The lake is a great place to swim. The camp has a swimming dock adjacent to a very relaxing cabana for those late afternoon naps.
There is plenty of wildlife to been seen and heard. In the summer there are hummingbird feeders along the porch. The surrounding forest contains bears, white tail deer, foxes, porcupine, and more. The lake has several fish species including trout as well as a returning pair of loons.
A favorite activity is roasting marshmallows in one of the many fireplaces in the camp. Better yet, the island has a fire pit, barbecue, and a lean-to if you’re adventurous.
